Dr. Bowker is Professor Emeritus of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Florida. During an academic career spanning thirty-seven years he has been involved in every aspect of amputee care, including prevention, improvement of surgical techniques, long-term follow-up, education and advocacy.

With John Michael, CPO, he co-edited the second edition of the Atlas of Limb Prosthetics and, most recently, co-edited with Michael Pfeifer, MD the sixth edition of Levin and O'Neal's The Diabetic Foot, which will appear in September, 2000. He is an honorary Member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and a Fellow of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics.
