Dr. McHugh is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland and honorary secretary of ISPO.
Dr. McHugh was Secretary and subsequently Chairman of the ISPO UK Scientific Sub-Committee and Vice-Chairman of ISPO UK prior to being elected Honorary Secretary of ISPO in 1995. He has been a member of the steering committee for ISPO consensus conferences on Appropriate Prosthetic Technology for Developing Countries (Cambodia, 1995) and Management of Poliomyelitis (Tunisia, 1997).
In the past Dr. McHugh was the editor of reports of DSE/GTZ Conference on Appropriate Technology (China, 1996) and Asian Prosthetics and Orthotics Workshop (1998, Japan). He has also presented biomechanics lectures on international ISPO courses on Amputation Surgery and Related Prosthetics (India, 1997; Vietnam, 1998) and on Management of Poliomyelitis (India, 1999 and Tanzania (2000).
