Ten years ago this month, Western Media LLC became an entity within the state of Colorado. Within four months, we launched the premier issue of The O&P EDGE at the Academy meeting in Orlando, Florida. We look forward to celebrating our anniversary with you at this year's Academy meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, March 21–24. We have a great party planned for all attendees.
I was reminded last month why we are all so committed to this wonderful industry. Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA) hosted its 24th annual Hartford Ski Spectacular December 4–11 in Breckenridge, Colorado, and I was lucky enough to attend. More than 700 participants descended on Beaver Run Resort and Breckenridge Ski Resort for the eight-day event—one of the largest winter sports festivals for people with disabilities. First-time skiers, members of the U.S. Paralympics Alpine Skiing National Team, and more than 100 wounded warriors attended the event with their families.
This year will be epic for Western Media LLC. You'll notice that we've made a few cosmetic changes beginning with this issue, and in honor of our tenth anniversary, we are pleased to present a new department, Looking Back, Looking Ahead, a celebration of the past, the present, and the future—not only for The O&P EDGE, but also for a profession that is constantly evolving in response to an ever-changing healthcare landscape.
On our newly revamped website, we are introducing The O&P EDGE as a flip-magazine. You still have the option of reading our articles online as you always have, but for those who prefer to flip through virtual pages that look just like our printed pages, including articles and advertisements, this option is for you. Our online flip-magazine will be archived, will allow keyword searches of current and archived issues, have a great zoom feature, and include live links to websites and e-mails. Looking for a specific advertiser? Click on the advertiser's name, and go directly to its website. The magazine is free for all our readers, so please share it with your friends—and let us know what you think of it. We always enjoy hearing from our readers.
