An impressive international multidisciplinary group of speakers have been invited to present current practices and protocols in rehabilitation. They include Carolina Schiappacasse, MD, physiatrist from Argentina; Marco A. Guedes, MD, orthopedic surgeon and prosthetist, Brazil; Ariel E. Saldaña F., MD, orthopedic surgeon, Panama; Raymond Francis, CP, prosthetist, US; Rosielena Jované C., orthotist/prosthetist, US; Marlo Ortiz, engineer and prosthetist, Mexico; Aida Amador, physical therapist, Panama; Fili-Mele Rodríguez, orthotist/prosthetist, Puerto Rico; John Link, orthotist, Puerto Rico; Larry Corley, education specialist, US; and R. Douglas Turner, director of International Marketing and Sales for Becker Orthopedic.
Topics to be discussed include management of the diabetic foot, partial foot amputations, transtibial amputation surgery, prosthetic componentry and alignment effect on amputee gait, transfemoral amputation surgery, and physical rehabilitation of the transfemoral amputee, among others. A certification course for Becker's 9000 Series of orthotic dynamic knees will also be held.
