The Orthotic & Prosthetic Group of America (OPGA) will host a M.A.S.® seminar for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), Washington DC on January 26-27, 2007. "OPGA is proud to have the opportunity to present this exciting and innovative socket technology to WRAMC," said OPGA President Jim Andreassen.
"Since September of 2004, OPGA has hosted 26 M.A.S. seminars and qualified nearly 600 prosthetists across the world in this innovative socket design that has received rave reviews from both patients and prosthetists," Andreassen said. "There have been several improvements in the socket design and the seminar itself, so even if you have already attended, a refresher course should help. A discount on the registration fee is available for all previous M.A.S. attendees."
Developed by prosthetist and engineer Marlo Ortiz Vazquez del Mercado, Ortiz Internacional, Guadalajara, Mexico, the ischial containment design has continued to arouse interest throughout the O&P community and has been featured in the Thranhardt Lecture series of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy).
