Nominations for the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) Awards of Excellence must be postmarked by April 16, the ACA announced. The ACA Awards of Excellence program recognizes individuals who have worked to improve the lives of people living with limb loss and limb difference throughout the previous year. The ACA wishes to recognize outstanding individuals in the categories of Volunteer of the Year, Role Model of the Year, Professional of the Year, and--new in 2007--Advocate of the Year, the organization said.
All nominees must be members of the ACA to qualify for the awards. A committee of consumers and professionals will review the letters of nomination and choose the winners. The winner in each category will receive a plaque during the award ceremony at the 2007 ACA Annual Conference June 15-17 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, a full conference registration, airfare up to $400, and three nights at the conference hotel will be provided to each winner. Winners will also be featured in the July/August issue of inMotion magazine.
