According to the Office of the Attorney General for the state of Mississippi, Jackson Brace and Limb Company, Mississippi, has repaid the Division of Medicaid $102,762.18 for inappropriate claims made from January 2001 through August 2008 for orthotic foot/leg braces predominantly prescribed for children. Jackson Brace and Limb also agreed to pay a $92,485.18 penalty to the Office of the Attorney General. Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood said, “I’d like to thank Jackson Brace and Limb Company for their cooperation throughout the investigative process. It does not appear that the inappropriate claims were done fraudulently, but rather in error as the services were clearly rendered but wrong codes were used to make the claims, resulting in overpayments for said claims. The company’s willingness to repay the monies mistakenly charged the state is commendable.” According to the Office of the Attorney General, the agreement was reached on August 13 and the state received full payment from the company on August 19.
