A three-day conference, "Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Seminar 2005," has been scheduled for February 17-19 in Cancun, Mexico.
Sponsored by Becker Orthopedic, Troy, Michigan, and Ortiz Internacional, S.A. de C.V., Guadalajara, Mexico, the seminar will cover such areas as: "Orthotics and Pediatric Rehabilitation," "Clinical/Surgical Management of the Diabetic Foot and Transtibial Amputations," along with a certification course in new dynamic knee orthoses.
The pediatric program on Thursday, February 17, will include sessions on post-operative management of the shoulder in brachial plexus injuries; surgical and conservative management of the most frequently occurring pediatric hip pathologies; and orthotic management of pediatric hip pathologiesapplication of the Maple Leaf orthosis. The program also will include physical rehabilitation of the pediatric patient with hip injuries; cervical spine immobilization with a non-invasive HALO; and comprehensive rehabilitation of the child with cerebral palsy.
Fridays sessions cover the certification course in new dynamic orthotic knees. The Saturday program will be devoted to surgical and orthotic treatment of the diabetic foot and transtibial amputation. Among the topics to be discussed are orthotic alternatives in treating the diabetic foot and the bone bridge technique in transtibial amputations.
