OPIE Software, Gainesville, Florida, has collaborated with St. Petersburg College (SPC), to integrate OPIE practice management software and electronic medical records throughout SPC's orthotics and prosthetics program curriculum.
SPC and oandp.com collaborated to create an academic version of the OPIE Software package, which will allow students to use the software in a classroom setting and enable instructors to monitor and evaluate the students' progress through the software, according to oandp.com.
"OPIE is a perfect complement to our academic program," said Arlene Gillis, CPO, instructor at SPC. "Students will have an opportunity to use advanced clinical software to simulate how they would evaluate, treat, and document patient care in the real world."
"We are very excited about the degree to which St. Pete College is integrating OPIE into its curriculum," said Paul Prusakowski, CPO, founder and CEO of oandp.com. "In addition to the benefits for students and instructors, we will be getting feedback from a group of people who grew up entirely in the computer era, and that feedback will help us continue to evolve OPIE to the benefit of all our users."
SPC will begin using the software as a part of its O&P curriculum during the fall 2008 semester.
