Disabled Skiers Retire

After stellar careers, seven elite disabled skiers have retired from competition, according to the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). They are:

  • Alpine skier Sarah Billmeier, Yarmouth, Maine, an eight-time Paralympics champion and six-time Worlds gold medalist;
  • Muffy Davis, Sun Valley, Idaho, monoski giant slalom champion and several times World Cup title winner;
  • Jennifer Kelchner, Truckee, California, 1998 Paralympic downhill champion;
  • Jake Rife, Pocatello, Idaho, Paralympics and World Championships medalist;
  • Carl Burnett, Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Paralympian;
  • Dan Kosick, Binghamton, New York; Paralympian and top ten finisher in four World Cup competitions since 2000; and
  • Rob Walsh, Hanover, New Hampshire, former cross-country ski world champion and three-time Paralympian.
