JACPOC Online Library ExpandsThe Association of Children's Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics
(ACPOC) has announced the expansion of its online library at
www.acpoc.org
The Journal of the Association of Children's Prosthetic and
Orthotic Clinics (JACPOC), known in earlier years as the Inter
Clinic Information Bulletin (ICIB), was published in 28 volumes
from 1961 through 1994. These journals were difficult to find until
2000, when volumes 19-28 were made available online through the
work of oandp.com. The online library expansion has unlocked the
valuable information stored in earlier volumes, said Jon Shinn,
technical director for the Digital Resource Foundation for the
O&P Community (DRFOP).
The nonprofit foundation partners with oandp.com to expand the
availability and accessibility of research information through its
Virtual Library project. The DRFOP has thus far digitized an
additional three volumes of the JACPOC/ICIB, spanning six years and
increasing the size of the online library by more than 50 percent.
Work on this project is continuing, and additional volumes will be
made available in the near future, Shinn said.
The JACPOC online library is housed at the ACPOC website (www.acpoc.org), and is searchable
from there as well as from the DRFOP website (www.drfop.org) and from oandp.com,
Shinn explained. He added that the DRFOP has taken careful measures
when formatting the online documents to also ensure that they will
be indexed by Internet search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and
MSN.
