Start of 2008 a Whirlwind for Palmiero-WintersAmy Palmiero-Winters, a world-class triathlete and transtibial
amputee, has had a busy start to 2008. In January, she was featured
in Newsday and was a guest on the Today Show, Weekend
Edition, and WNBC. She recently sat for an interview with
Glamour, which hits shelves in May, and was contacted by
the Fitness Hall of Fame in New York City, New York. She also was
interviewed by ESPN for a story about advances in prosthetic
technology in combination with Oscar Pistorius, a bilateral amputee
sprinter. Palmierio-Winters also was named Sportswoman of the Year
at the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame banquet in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
On top of all that, the mother of two will be featured in a new
national advertising campaign by PowerBar. The "Power to Push"
campaign is designed to offer a window into athletes' minds as they
battle physical and emotional barriers to reach their goals,
according to organizers.
Print ads featuring Palmiero-Winters will appear in the April
and May issues of magazines such as Runner's World,
Outside, Women's Health, and more. Six-time Olympic gold
medalist Michael Phelps and mountain climber Tommy Caldwell also
will appear in the campaign.
