Soliant to Sponsor Ironman RigsbySoliant Health, the healthcare staffing solutions unit of MPS
Group Inc. Jacksonville, Florida, announced it will sponsor the
work of athlete and former Soliant recruiter Scott Rigsby, a
bilateral amputee who has set multiple world records in the
Ironman, half Ironman, full marathon, and international distance
triathlon.
In 2005, Rigsby began his quest to break down barriers for
physically challenged athletes and, within a year, he had completed
five road races, 13 triathlons, and earned a place on the 2006 USA
Triathlon Team. In October 2007, using three sets of specialized
prostheses, Rigsby completed the Ironman World Championship in
Hawaii, swimming 2.4 miles in the ocean, cycling 112 miles through
the Big Island lava fields, and finally running 26.2 miles. This
feat of endurance made him the first bilateral amputee in the world
to complete an Ironman distance triathlon.
"Throughout my journey, I have learned that anything is possible
as long as you have determination and surround yourself with
supportive people," Rigsby said. "Before I began my training, I was
a recruiter for Soliant, and I was able to use my experience with
hospitals and healthcare professionals to staffskilled healthcare
employees where they could make a difference. I am now placing
myself before other physically challenged individuals to let them
know that they, too, can make a difference."
