UNOC Elects, Re-Elects Board Members

The UpperEx National Outreach Coalition (UNOC), Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, today announced that it has elected five new members to its board of directors and re-elected two board members.

"We are excited to welcome these talented and passionate people to the board," said Eric Westover, UNOC CEO and recently re-elected chair. "They each bring great strengths to our organization and have made a commitment to better the amputee community through their service. I look forward to the generous contributions they will continue to make as volunteer leaders of UpperEx."

Kim Doolan

Randall Alley, BSc, CP, FAAOP, CFT:
Alley is CEO and chief prosthetist for biodesigns inc., Thousand Oaks, California, and has more than 16 years of experience working exclusively with upper-extremity patients. He is an adjunct professor at California State University Dominquez Hills' O&P program, a member of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), and is the chair of the CAD/CAM society of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy). He also serves on the editorial boards of The O&P EDGE and O&P Business News.

Kim Doolan: Doolan has been wearing (and using) upper-extremity prostheses for more than forty years. She previously served on the boards of the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA), the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC), and the Barr Foundation. She currently works with Touch Bionics/LIVINGSKIN, Edinburg, Scotland, and Allen Orthotics & Prosthetics, Midland, Texas.

Sean McHugh

Sean McHugh

Sean McHugh: McHugh lost his right arm below the elbow in a September 2002 construction accident. He quickly mastered the use of his body-powered hook and jumped back into life. He is currently working at Atlantic Integrated Systems, Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. He served on UNOC's original board of directors and also serves as a director on the board of the Civic Theatre of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

David Ostiguy: Ostiguy has a transhumeral amputation. He became an amputee as a result of a highly aggressive soft-tissue cancer originally diagnosed in his right hand. He received abachelor's degree in computer science from Rochester Institute of Technology, New York. He currently resides in Apex, North Carolina, with his wifeand works professionally as a software developer.

Dave Rotter, CPO

Dave Rotter, CPO

Dave Rotter, CPO: Rotter is a certified prosthetist/orthotist with 16 years of experience. He has been an upper- extremity specialist for 11 years and has extensive adult and pediatric knowledge. He is a principal of Scheck & Siress Prosthetics and Orthotics, Chicago, Illinois. He also serves on the board of directors of the Association of Children's Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC).

Re-elected Members

Shawn Westover was re-elected as secretary, and Eric Westover was re-elected as chair, both to second terms in their respective positions. Their new terms will expire on December 31, 2010.
