Bob Boff, longtime president of PEL Supply
Company, Cleveland, Ohio, recently retired. Boff, who succeeded PEL
founder Paul E. Leimkuehler as president in 1993, has been with PEL
since 1966.
"Boff learned about PEL from every possible angle, from
bookkeeping and inventory control to customer service to shipping
and receiving," according to a PEL press release, and current PEL
president, Gary Mahler, said, "Bob laid the foundation that still
serves us well in the ongoing quest for customer service
excellence."
At his retirement dinner, Boff was presented with a plaque that
recognized his years of service to PEL. Paulette Leimkuehler
Vaughn, vice president and daughter of founder Paul Leimkuehler,
added that PEL will commemorate Boff's 42 years of service by
renaming the education wing of PEL headquarters as the "Robert A.
Boff Learning Center."
In a press release, Mahler stated that the Robert A. Boff
Learning Center "goes along nicely" with the Paul E. Leimkuehler
OnLine Learning Center that is part of the American Academy of
Orthotists and Prosthetists [the Academy]. "The seminar room is the
heart of the learning program at PEL that led to excellence in
customer service. Bob Boff has had a tremendous influence over
customer-service excellence for over 42 years, and it is fitting to
rename it in his honor," Mahler added.
Boff became president emeritus of PEL in 2006, when he named
Mahler as his successor. In presenting the plaque, Paulette Vaughn
expressed "thanks from the Leimkuehler family for Bob's 42-plus
years of loyalty and dedication."
