The New Generation Inc.
The New Generation Inc. [800-327-3036 in USA only] is an association of ABC Certified practitioners who have developed small products that are very useful clinically but won't sell in large enough numbers to interest major distributors or manufacturers. I always make a point to stop by their shared booth to see what clever new ideas they have come up with.
One of the more intriguing was a package of three full-color video micro-cameras and a wireless remote audio-video receiver for less than $400 USD. Think of the possibilities this technology could offer in today's busy facility!
For example, the front desk staff could simultaneously monitor the waiting area, the laminating room, and the thermoforming area on a single small television set. Or, by adding a $200 video board to the billing PC, they could monitor these areas in a corner of the PC monitor. Or, the practitioners could keep an eye on the fabrication area while doing their charting, so they would know when it was time to run into the lab to help with pulling a body jacket.
Understand, this is not a silent, washed out black and white image typical of yesterday's security cameras. This is a full-color, full motion real-time image with live audio! And, all the signals are transmitted wirelessly [within up to a 100 foot radius], so the installation to monitor a typical small facility is literally "plug and play". Just imagine what you could do with such a set-up....
