Web Based Education
Universally accessible internet-based education is still mostly wishful thinking, but some intriguing snippets of useful information are starting to appear. Two URLs of interest were mentioned in the latest issue of the Magazine for the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists.
How to Make a Poster Presentation
The first is a tutorial about making a scientific poster, from the University of Strathclyde. This is a straightforward "how to" but I think it works well online because the concepts are not complex. Check it out at: www.strath.ac.uk/Departments/CAP/poster.
"Trans-femoral Socket and Comfort" e-Book
The second is more ambitious. The Limbless Association in the United Kingdom has published an interesting full-color e-Book containing a series of articles from clinicians, researchers, consumers, and others - including some reprints from publications of the Amputee Coalition of America. Some of the issues are regional, of course, but there are many universal questions and concerns that make this worthwhile reading for anyone with an interest in this area.
This is one of the best uses of the Adobe PDF format to publish a booklet I have seen to date. You can download a free copy from: www.limbless-association.org.
