The journal Gait and Posture has been publishing articles that are relevant to P&O care with increasing frequency in recent years. For example, you can go to www.sciencedirect.com for an article documenting the advantages of a conventional articulated AFO with plantarflexion stop over the supramalleolar level "Dynamic" AFO. In this study, the DAFO had no perceptible positive effect on the gait parameters studied.

One example of an article about prosthetic principles is "Comparative evaluation of the ischial containment and quadrilateral sockets" at www.sciencedirect.com .

They also post a nice selection of Review articles at www.elsevier.com. One of the more interesting is titled "Gait analysis in the amputee: has it helped the amputee or contributed to the development of improved prosthetic components?" Another excellent reference is Bob Water's review article titled "The energy expenditure of normal and pathological gait".
