John Michael's Corner Welcome to the intersection of orthotics and prosthetics in cyberspace!
This Corner continues the discussion from the transcontinental HD tour and includes some practical information on some of the newer dressings that can be used to protect fragile skin inside a prosthesis or orthosis.

All chapters from the Spanish language textbooks on Lower Limb Prosthetics and Orthotics have been posted, and remain available for downloading, along with the classic text from UCLA on Upper Limb Prostheses.

Thanks to the generosity of Sr. Alberto Castillo from Mexico City, the articles in this Corner will now be available in Spanish too. A brief biography is posted, listing just a few of Sr. Castillo's many accomplishments. Additional chapters from the texts on lower limb prosthetics and orthotics that have been translated into Spanish are also available for downloading.

Please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions regarding this information in our guest book . If you would like to be notified by e-mail whenever this corner is updated, please become a registered user of oandp.com .

CPO Services is very pleased to be able to post electronic versions of texts used in the former WHO school in the Dominican Republic, with the kind permission of Sidney Fishman, PhD.

I hope you have enjoyed some of the information posted in this monthly Corner. Please leave your comments and suggestions for improvements or topics in the Guest Book .

Thank you.

Re: Re: KAFO
Thank you for your reply. The cast and fitting was done by GII themselves. After several manufacturing problems I traveled 3 days to be at their facility directly. Only the calf and foot were re-cast and the new AFO attached to the origin... read more

Re: Re: Re: KAFO
The short answer is that it is technically possible to replace any portion of an existing orthosis, so an AFO replacement could be feasible. Whether it would help is another question that can only be answered by an orthotist who has examin... read more

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: KAFO
John Park’s version of my bracing past is colorful, fanciful, and quite dizzying. This is a side issue but for everyone’s edification: I have never had a KAFO made by anyone except GII USA. I did have KO experiences with both Townsend and... read more
