Customizable Patient Care Instructions
Mark Gorman CPO, who has a small facility in Morgantown, Virginia, has developed a series of basic instruction sheets for those custom orthoses and prostheses he commonly provides for his patients. Each is a succinct one-page summary of basic guidelines for the patient who is receiving this care for the first time, accompanied by a black and white drawing of a typical example of the device.
Based on numerous requests from other practitioners who have not yet found the time to create such useful patient education modules, Mark is now making copies available in an ASCII format with the line drawings as separate PCX files and as Microsoft Word, Works 2.0, and Publisher files. This means that almost all contemporary word processor files will be able to directly import this information so you can format it with your facility name, address, and contact information. You can also easily edit or modify the content, adding additional information to update the files in the future.
The packet containing 30 sheets of patient education information, including both English and Spanish language versions in all four file formats, can be purchased for $125 USD. One fifth of each sale [$25 USD] goes to support CAMO's prosthetic lab in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras. When you consider how much time it would take to duplicate this effort, the cost is very reasonable.
