John Michael's Corner Welcome to the intersection of P&O in cyberspace.
This Corner begins with an editorial on the importance of ethics from the President of the American Association of Medical Colleges, continues with some excerpts from an excellent multimedia technical education CD from David Hoy CPO, and concludes with an "Andy Rooney"-type guest commentary from Greg Gruman CP entitled, "A Letter to My Great Grandfather".

All chapters from the Spanish language textbooks on Lower Limb Prosthetics remain available for downloading, along with the classic text from UCLA on Upper Limb Prostheses.

Thanks to the generosity of Sr. Alberto Castillo from Mexico City, the articles in this Corner will now be available in Spanish too. A brief biography is posted, listing just a few of Sr. Castillo's many accomplishments. Additional chapters from the texts on lower limb prosthetics and orthotics that have been translated into Spanish are also available for downloading.

Please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions regarding this information in our guest book . If you would like to be notified by e-mail whenever this corner is updated, please become a registered user of oandp.com .

This month's Corner includes the next installment of uploads of chapters from the entire Spanish language texts on Lower Limb Orthoses and Lower Limb Prostheses, for downloading or printing. CPO Services is very pleased to be able to post electronic versions of texts used in the former WHO school in the Dominican Republic, with the kind permission of Sidney Fishman, PhD.

I hope you have enjoyed some of the information posted in this monthly Corner. Please leave your comments and suggestions for improvements or topics in the Guest Book .

Thank you.

CAH information
Hi I will pass on the fabrication part and go to the gait videos. After looking at the videos several times I am not sure the AFO’s really help. You could hear more noise at toe strike, with both AFO’s. One of the problems with the gai... read more

Re: CAH information
To clarify, John, the video clips excerpted here are specifically intended to illusturate incorrect use of AFOs: too little and too much plantarflexion limitation respectively. The actual CD has a larger series of video vignettes so you ca... read more
