side bending brace
Posted By: Clinical Orthotic Consultants on October 18, 2012
Hello all, Was just sent a patient, 65 year old female, 4"6", maybe 80 lbs, Angelman Syndrome. She has a constant lean to the left that the Physician feels is causing her to stumble and fall. There is no scoliosis. He wants me to prevent this left side lean with an orthosis. I could do custom, but would like to try something off-the-shelf first to see if it has any effect on her. Anyone come across something like this? Am thinking a three point pressure system, something like a Jewett for prevention of forward bend, but designed to prevent lateral lean? Any thoughts appreciated.
