exo pneumatic knees
Posted By: Kristin Schafer on June 15, 2012
Hi Everyone, I have a gentleman who has a knee disarticulation who has been wearing single axis joints, exo shank, with a back check strap. He may at one point have had an elastic extension assist strap on it as well. What is the group's experience with exo pneumatic knees with outside hinges. Is there only the Dupaco units with the internal yokes (#56226-30)? What have you used that's as lightweight as possible? What has been your patients' feedback in switching from a freely swinging single axis knee to the use of a pneumatic or hydraulic system. I am wondering if the added weight might be a turn off for him. He's one of these guys who has walked on this one leg for the past 18 years and I may be wasting his time trying something new. He said he's like to try it and see! I look forward to your responses. Have a nice weekend everyone!
