Hello List! I have a patient who presents with a very short transtibial amputation (tibial plateau level). He has a 90 degree flexion contracture with a large skin grafted area over the patella that covers the anterior distal third of his thigh. I have decided that my best (and really only) option is to treat him as an "extended" knee distarticulation level. What I am asking for is suggestions on endoskeletal knee units that have minimal clearance both proximal and distal. (The tibial section will obviously be compromised with minimal length.) The patient is healthy otherwise and I anticipate him to be quite active (K3) and a good ambulator. He is in good physical condition and I would like to choose an appropriate knee. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Jerry Nelson CPO |
