Peg Leg Finishing

Wondering if anyone has a technique of finishing a peg leg to look like natural wood grain, starting from a carbon composite socket, we have tried self adhesive laminate, the really thin stuff, no way to make that look acceptable, I contacted Dan Horkey for custom painting,, that is a viable option, but, I was hoping to maybe do something in-house, or central fab,, Mike Truesdale CPO
