OPIE Boot Camp Breaks Attendance Record

OPIE Users Learn Real World Solutions to Increase O&P Business Success

Clearwater, FL - November 4, 2011 - Lovely fall weather and a beautiful resort served as an amazing backdrop for this fall's OPIE Boot Camp seminar series. Convened at the well-appointed Sheraton Resort on the beaches of Clearwater, over 80 OPIE users gathered for three, full days of interactive sessions designed to have an immediate impact on their companies' business success. With over 300 companies now using this unique practice management system, OPIE Software is the world's leading software systems dedicated to the orthotic and prosthetic industry.

OPIE Boot Camps are a unique concept in training within the O&P industry. Not only do these seminars provide in-depth training to both new and existing OPIE users but the curriculum for Boot Camps has continued to expand to meet the increasing demands on the O&P business for documentation related to compliance and patient outcomes. Besides comprehensive programs on all aspects of the OPIE use, Boot Camps are specifically designed to facilitate interactions among OPIE users.

"There is no question that some of the best value of a Boot Camp is the relationships that OPIE users form individually," said Paul Prusakowski, OPIE Software CEO. "We really want our Boot Camp attendees to share their own, personal real world experiences. Talking with other people who are on the same journey is extremely reassuring as companies build their businesses to meet the ever increasing requirements from payers and the government."

At this latest Boot Camp, several expert presenters were specifically included to help OPIE users to better understand how the regulatory and compliance requirements are rapidly changing. Dave Edwards, an ABC site surveyor, presented to OPIE users on how the ABC site survey process works and how companies can prepare for the rapidly increasing government documentation requirements. In addition, Scott Williamson, President of Quality Outcomes, conducted two sessions about the future of how patient outcomes are already becoming linked to reimbursement for patient care.

"Many people within the O&P industry do not realize how far outcomes measures have advanced in the provider community," states Scott Williamson, President of Quality Outcomes. "As the quality measures work their way into O&P care provision, the companies already using OPIE will find that they are ahead of the curve in documenting their patient care processes. These companies will be able to quickly address any new documentation and reporting requirements that come in the future."

As the documentation requirements continue to change within the O&P industry, the OPIE Software has continued to rapidly expand to meet these demands. On the clinical side, the core electronic medical record component of OPIE connects every staff member to manage the complete operations of a practice from scheduling initial appointments, managing administrative documentation through WIP through clinical documentation, fabrication management, purchasing and ultimately delivery of the definitive device with seamless electronic billing. All of these processes are managed within the logical OPIE workflow that standardizes operations to support facility accreditation and compliance on many levels. The Purchasing & Inventory module in OPIE brings Integrated Suppliers and clinical facilities together through this comprehensive product ordering system.

"Creating a truly integrated patient care workflow system inherently provides the documentation that is becoming increasing necessary within the O&P industry." said Jon Shinn, Chief Operations Officer. "The development of OPIE over the past 15 years has been designed to keep up with the past requirements. Fortunately, we have invested heavily to have the resources that will enable OPIE's development to lead the way as documentation requirements increase for our over 300 customers."

The 2012 schedule for OPIE Boot Camp conferences will be published in December. Next year's Boot Camp calendar will include seminars at several different locations throughout the country as well as an increasing number of sessions designed to address all aspects of an O&P company's success.
