The Ultimate Challenge, Track and Field Invitational is for lower limb
amputees and Les Autres (athletes with disabilities resulting from injuries
to the musculoskeltal system and/or nervous system), who have competed at
the international level with amputees, or have the potential to compete
internationally.
Amputee classification is further subdivided based on the location and
degree of amputation/disability. So in today's meet you will see the
following classification of athletes in fierce competition both on the field
(F) and on the track (T) all aiming, with your support, to shatter
Paralympic and world records.
T42/F42- Single above the knee amputation; combined upper and lower limb
amputations.
T43/F43- Double below knee amputation; combined lower and upper limb
amputations; normal function in throwing arm.
T44/F44 - Single below the knee amputation; combined lower and upper limb
amputations; moderate/reduced function in one or both limbs.
