The 13th annual PrimeFare East meeting, held June 3–4, 2011, at the Nashville Convention Center in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, attracted attendees from 17 states. According to Jane Edwards, vice president and partner, “Our surveys from the meeting gave us the highest scores we have ever had, and the comments were especially positive.” Zita Upchurch, government relations liaison for Cigna (now with Blue Cross Blue Shield), was the keynote speaker on Friday morning. She is expected to reprise and update her presentation for next year’s symposium, at the request of those who attended her session. Four tracks were available for attendees: prosthetics, orthotics, pedorthics, and management. According to Terry Shaw, president of Shaw’s Prosthetics Plus, Owensboro, Kentucky, “The scientific sessions were very strong, as they usually are. However, this year’s management track was just outstanding. They had a Nurse Life Care Planner that opened a whole new area of opportunity to those of us in the field. Th e business round table provided real, usable information on everything from healthcare business banking to a much more valid way to drill down into and make better use of your financials.”

“We were very happy that in this economy to have excellent attendee numbers, and nearly 100 percent of our previous exhibitors return. We were also delighted that 15 percent of our exhibitors were new to PrimeFare, adding some fresh faces and products and services to the mix,” said Cathie Pruitt, president and partner.
