On March 13, the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) submitted comments on a proposed rule that will implement Section 427 of the Benefits Improvement and Protection Act of 2000 (BIPA 2000). NAAOP worked in concert with members of the Orthotic and Prosthetic Alliance—a coalition that includes NAAOP, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists; the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics; the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association; and the Board for Certification/Accreditation (BOC)—to develop a comprehensive statement on the proposed rule, along with specific recommendations for consideration by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
