The American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) announced a new technical fabrication contest to be held during its annual National Assembly October 7-10 in San Antonio. This year’s contest will be a timed event on the exhibit floor, in which contestants will be clocked while properly assembling an articulating AFO; you do not need to be a technician to participate, and the AFO parts will be provided.
Competitions will take place each day of the assembly, and each contestant can have his or her time recorded up to three times, with the best time considered for competition. The first place winner will receive a $500 cash prize and two runners-up will each receive a $200 cash prize. There is no charge to participate.
Sign-up information is included on the National Assembly registration form. For those who have registered for the assembly but were not able to register for the technical fabrication contest, contact Ryan Gleeson at rgleeson@AOPAnet.org.
