Arie "Bud" Bronkhorst is president and owner of Conner Brace Company, Inc., in Austin, Texas. During the past three decades, Mr. Bronkhorst has become established as one of thetop practitioners and voices for orthotics in the state of Texas.

Mr. Bronkhorst is a two-term past president of the Texas Association of Orthotics and Prosthetics (1981-83, 1987-89), and immediate past president of the Certified Orthotic and Prosthetic Advocates, Inc..

He is the author of a number of articles and publishes a quarterly newsletter, Orthotics Today. Mr. Bronkhorst owns a patent for an orthosis that inhibits tone in Cerebral Palsy children and closed head injury patients.

He also has served as an instructor of orthotics for the Department of Physical Therapy at Southwest Texas State University. He is an active member in numerous professional orthotics associations. In 1992, he was a key member of a team of practitioners who conducted clinics in the Republic of Honduras in conjunction with the Honduran Association for Rehabilitation.

Mr. Bronkhorst became a certified orthotist after completing the Orthotics and Prosthetics Program at Northwestern University. He subsequently helped establish the first Orthotics residency program in the Midwest associated with Northwestern. Mr. Bronkhorst also attended Muskegon (Mich.) Community College. For 10 years he served as staff orthotist at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon. He is a past director of orthotics at the Mary Freebed Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Grand Rapids, Mich. He came to Texas in 1978 as the Director of Orthotics at the West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Abilene.

Mr. Bronkhorst and wife Barbara have three children and one grandchild.
