HKAFO for proximal fracture-Medicare coverage
Posted By: Randy McFarland on May 25, 2016
Hi List members, For the first time we've been asked to provide a functional fracture orthosis for a pt with a healing mid femoral fracture. Pt. is 76 yo and is refusing surgery. Healing is taking place and she is to resume ambulation starting with toe touching once she has the orthosis. The hip component is to control rotation as it will not counteract the abduction forces involved. Have any you had any experience regarding payment from Medicare for such an orthosis? Thanks, Randy McFarland, CPO Fullerton, CA |
