US Practitioners: PECOS Search available
Posted By: Paul Prusakowski on February 12, 2010
Dear listserv subscribers, As many of you know, CMS is requiring that all physicians who refer patients to us be registered in the PECOS database. If we provide services to patients who have been referred to us by a physician who is not enrolled in PECOS we will not be paid. Therefore it is in our best interest to know if the referring physician is enrolled prior to initiating the provision of service. CMS provided a 13,000 page PDF document with all physicians registered in PECOS, but there was no simple way to search the list unless you purchased an Adobe product. My development team has put together a search tool that is available for everyone in the profession to use freely to verify if your referring physicians are registered. It is available as a link at www.oandp.com Enjoy! Paul E. Prusakowski, CPO, FAAOP |
