HIPAA Compliance of CRM
Posted By: Stephanie Bucklin on December 17, 2009
Hello List, We have been searching for a good CRM (Customer Relations Management) software, and we've tried a few. Just recently, we found JavelinCRM.com, which looks promising. It is an online software which allows you keep a database of your contacts, track your contacts' status and assign tasks be done for contacts or by individuals. It's doing the job that I've wanted from all the other CRM's we've tried, so I don't want to switch now. I inquired to Javelin about their HIPAA compliance. It is a secured website when you login, but we're still concerned for the security of our clients protected health information. Javelin's simple response was that they hold up to the European Privacy Guidelines, which are more stringent than the US HIPAA guidelines, but that they haven't evaluated their software for HIPAA compliance. Here are my questions: Are there any HIPAA experts out there who have dealt with the European Privacy guidelines that can confirm that the EURO policies would be enough to also be in compliance with the US policies? I have inquired to a few O&P agencies, but I haven't gotten a response yet. Are there any organizations out there that could test our online CRM to confirm HIPAA Compliance for us? What CRM (if any) does your company use for tracking new and potential clients? Thanks! Stephanie B Bucklin Director of Clinical Operations, biodesigns, inc.
