Audit Results

Good morning,After reviewing the Region A audit results, published by Linda Collins, I was astonished at the 98% denial rate for LSO's.  As we all know, the reimbursement price for LSO's for Medicare is extremely low; almost laughable.  So I understand the logic of not wanting to put in the time and effort in responding to an audit for a claim that barely even covered your cost.  However, the ramifications for not responding to, or failing to get the adequate documentation, for an audit is far greater.  When you don't respond or receive a denial, you put a large target on your back with Medicare.  Meaning, the more denials you have, the more audits you will receive.  So, it is worth your time to properly respond to any, and all, audits.  There is a lot of help within our profession.  Please reach out; don't sit idly while Medicare gathers more ammunition against your company.  Let's keep up the good fight.
