Muckle Wells Syndrome- Orthotic management question
Posted By: Greg Armstrong on November 22, 2016
I have a 7yr 9month female with Muckle Wells, an auto inflammatory disease. For my purpose, she has tight heel cords, about 5 to 7 degree PF contractures easily collapsing her feet into overpronation and calcaneovalgus. Pt will see orthopedist soon for possible tendon lengthenings. Does anyone know if they can be stretched or do I take the Elaine Owens approach by tuning and accommodating for best function? Over stretching is painful for this kiddo and the current plan is SMO's and shoe wedging to accommodate. Does anyone have any other suggestions? -- Thanks, Greg Armstrong ā, CPO/Lā |
